Rara Avis: Latin
for unique, literally a "rare bird.”
In this group show, new work by five Bromfield artists takes wing: Laurie
Alpert, Adria Arch, Debra Giller, Kathy A. Halamka, and Vivian Pratt. Exploring
process and content in diverse works on paper, wood and clay, each artist
soars into a fresh and personal direction.
• Laurie Alpert, a printmaker, displays an artist book based on her
recent
interest in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
• Adria Arch presents an 8' x 8' work consisting of necklace-like
lengths of inkblots that detail her fascination with symmetry.
• Ceramic sculptor Debra Giller shows sculptures relating to floral
shapes and marine life.
• Kathy A. Halamka experiments with the imperfections of mirror imagery.
• Vivian Pratt shares her series of cyanotype-derived images, based
on roots that suggest figures.
