Opening Reception: Friday, April 3, 5:30-7:30
Gallery 1: Nancy Diessner: “Finding the Sky.”
Dogs and human bodies and wild beasts, sometimes alone and sometimes together,
occupy these photographic intaglio prints—presented as a suite of
multi-plate prints on large sheets of paper. In most of the prints, two
images are placed one above the other. Through this juxtaposition, Diessner
hopes to express an expansive longing for meaning and connection between
two worlds.
Gallery II: Clara Lieu: "Unseen & Unknown."
This series of drawings are made with lithographic crayon on layered sheets
of sanded Dura-Lar. Groups of figures are depicted wading in an undefined
and infinite body of water. In these drawings, the experience of loneliness
and isolation is visually portrayed as being unseen and unknown within a
group context.
Gallery III: Gary Duehr and Kathy A. Halamka: “Artist Bio.”
In his series “Fractures”—featuring 8x10 photos with trompe
l’oeil cracks in the glass—Duehr uses a family album to explore
autobiographical fiction. Halamka’s photo-based prints in her “Postmemory
Quilts” imagine fragmentary moments stitched together into a cohesive
past.
